Your Sling
In most cases, you will be issued a sling on the day of your surgery immediately following the procedure. Unless specifically instructed otherwise, the sling should be worn so that your forearm is almost perpendicular to your torso, as if you are “shooting from the hip.” The picture below demonstrates proper sling position. Your forearm should not be pressed in front of your torso.

Your Ice Machine
Cryotherapy is an incredibly valuable tool in controlling pain and swelling after surgery. Studies have shown a clear decrease in narcotic pain medications requirements and the decrease in swelling and inflammation helps to facilitate motion restoration and healing. The devices are typically rented and used with a custom sleeve for ~2-3 weeks after surgery.
